- In this project, students learned about our food systems from ground to ground. Through reading The Omnivore's Dilemma, completing field work at local farms, markets, and ecological centers, and conducting interviews and shooting film with the FDA, grocery stores, restaurants, organic farmers and many others, students explored the human food chain and how we grow/manufacture our food, package it, ship it, buy it, consume it, and dispose of it. Students also learned about what our bodies need in order to grow and function and the effects of certain foods not only on their bodies, but also the political and economic impact of food choices.
